You gotta know that I am sitting here in bed with a cigarette in my mouth hoping that it was good for you, too. You’ve gotta know that I’ve already contacted the Guinness Book of World Records. I mean, this is PR.
This is one for “Amazing Feats of Mass Participation.” Eight-hundred seventy-five people dancing The “Longest Contra Line” for five minutes at Waid Academy in Anstruther, Scotland... please. Twenty crazies at 6,500 ft., capturing the “Most to Parachute from a Balloon Simultaneously,” have got nothing on us. I am thrilled to announce that we’ve broken the 1 million mark. According to our webmaster, the Strumpette did 1.2 million hits last month.
Well, of course, my first reaction was, “if I had a dime for every geeky little blogger I had to WOM for this.” Seriously, that’s not far from the truth. In April we serviced just shy of 30 thousand unique visitors. Damn!! Any wonder why I’m so tired and walk with a noticeable limp.
THANKS TO OUR SUPPORTING CAST
Actually, this feat has been the result of hard work and dedication by a long list of supporting characters. I'd like to thank my all-girl posse: Norah on lead guitar, Vikki on bass, Red on drums and Ana Lydia on keyboard. I’d like to thank our backup singers: Phil Hall, Adam Zand, Marcy Levy, Lissa Jacoby, Nicole Hill, Melissa Oslund, Jessica McManan, Julie Greenwald, Jessica Freud and Paula Bennett. Of course, we'd be nowhere without our "blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band," Ms. Annie Burkhart. And last but not least, we’d like to thank our roadie and head tech, Brian Connolly, for keeping the lights on, the mics working, and the whole show on the road.
THANKS TO OUR CONTRIBUTORS
I'd also like to thank some of the industry's most esteemed personalities for having graced us with their contributions: Frank Shaw, President of Waggener Edstrom Worldwide; Michael Petruzzello, Managing Partner, Qorvis Communications; Eric Dezenhall, CEO of Dezenhall Resources; Katie Delahaye Paine, CEO, KDPaine & Partners, LLC; David Gallagher, Partner/CEO, Ketchum London, John Bell, Managing Director, Ogilvy PR; Doug Dowie, Former MD, Fleishman-Hillard LA; and Jack O'Dwyer, Publisher, O’Dwyer’s Newsletter.
AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO THOSE THAT INSPIRE US
We'd like to thank Richard Edelman, CEO of Edelman PR for his tremendous personal investment into the "Me2Revolution." No one has given more to alter PR's course and foster the perception of "innovation."
We'd like to thank all the firms that have similarly chased something "new" to help us all sell something timeless: Fleishman-Hillard, The MWW Group, Ketchum, and Text 100.
We'd like to thank our PR blog and social media "experts" for their enthusiastic and unbridled opinions: Jeff Jarvis, Steve Rubel, B.L. Ochman, Debbie Weil, Shel Israel, Brian Oberkirch, and the always entertaining Phil Gomes.
We'd like to thank 5WPR's Ronn Torossian for getting in bed with pornographer Joe Francis and defending our right to represent barely-legal 18 girl-on-girl action.
Lastly, we'd like to thank PRSA, PRWeak and Lapdog for their tireless efforts in helping to prop up and promote this whacky industry.
As we've said many times, all the tremendous support aside, obviously, without certain individuals and organizations in our business, there would be no Strumpette.
Grazie.
Graciously yours,
- Amanda Chapel
