Strumpette Contest Announces Two Winners for February!
We are pleased to announce two winners for February’s Captivating Caption Contest. The first is The World’s Leading (TWL), the widely-popular technology-PR weblog based in the UK. The second winner is Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.
Actually, TWL won the contest but then graciously donated their award to this awe inspiring organization. Pictured right, development manager for Komen, Karen Kliebhan accepts a check for $500 on behalf of the Foundation.
Sponsored by one of the most respected PR firms in the world, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide, the caption contest gives PR practitioners a fun forum to show off their creative chops. Readers enter by simply writing a caption to a photo supplied each month. At the end of each month, our panel of seven judges picks a winner on the basis of creativity, originality, sex appeal and sass.
After a rigorous selection process, this month our panel chose TWL’s entry among several hundred entrants. TWL won with the caption, "Though conceived by the magic of Disney, the years hadn't been kind to the bastard child of Mickey and Tinkerbell."
TWL said, "I can't tell you how pleased I am! I'm absolutely delighted that the money is going to such a worthy cause."
Marking its 25th anniversary, to date Komen has invested nearly $1 billion toward its mission to end breast cancer. The organization is responsible for turning breast cancer into a priority health issue for women, researchers, health professionals and politicians worldwide.
Where will TWL's contribution go? In '07, Komen for the Cure is focusing on special national and international initiatives. These initiatives include: the Komen Community Challenge, a policy and education tour to 25 communities; the first-ever State of Breast Cancer Report; and the world's first Global Breast Cancer Advocate Summit. Congratulations TWL! Thank you. What a TOTALLY classy thing to do.
Special thanks to all who participated in February's contest. Good luck next month.
