I'm in my mid-50's, having slogged through a long and extinguished career in PR, marketing, journalism, and idleness. I go about 180, roughly 6' tall, with poor hand-eye coordination, graying hair, and small flabby manboobs. (You wanted transparency, didn't you?) Want more? I'm a secular humanist, male heterosexual mammal, liberal Democrat, tree-hugging proponent of socialized medicine, getting the hell out of Iraq ASAP, and increasing income taxes to get the budget back into some semblance of balance. I live outside of Cincinnati with my spouse and two cats. I drive a 2003 Taurus (because I can't afford a Prius.) I think Macs are better than PCs, and I sometimes wonder if there might be something to that astrology thing. Robert French, speaking on behalf of Dr. Mary Helen Brown and the Department of Communication and Journalism there, threw down the gauntlet a week ago openly taunting the writers of a controversial PR trade publication to "step up to the challenge.” French said: “Frankly, I don’t care anymore. I will gladly debate the fool(s) in public. But, we all know that it won’t." Well, here it is. DEBATE THIS FRENCH!! The first topic is “hypocrisy,” i.e. “the practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; inherent falseness.” |

Here's an odd one. Auburn University, one of the nation's premier academic institutions, put its reputation on the line recently crying for an open debate. Then the spokesperson vomited.

Anthone who has to delcare that they are "authentic" must presumably take the view that they are perceived as not being "authentic" - something which might be of concern in a PR company
