Growing Evidence that PR 2.0 is SpreadingPosted by Amanda Chapel PR 2.0 and the limitless ever expanding and empowering "conversation," is spreading and is now definitively something to be reckoned with. According to March's Monthly Global Threat Report by Scansafe, one of the world’s leading providers of Web security services, a whooping 80 percent of Internet blogs are "infested" with offensive content. A total of 614 blog sites were chosen at random for analysis. By employing real-time traffic filtering, the company was able to glean some pretty unsavory stuff. Scansafe concluded that blog sites have become overgrown with a variety of unpleasant content, including porn, offensive language, hate posting, and malware. "There were as many blogs with the 'F-word' as the word 'China'", said ScanSafe's Dan Nadir. "Bottom line, employees visiting these sites can unknowingly expose corporate networks to legal liability, viruses and loss of proprietary information." It is Scansafe's position that this is indicative of the extent to which the Internet has become a channel for the "long tail of minority interests that encompass interests others would deem 'offensive". Anthone who has to delcare that they are "authentic" must presumably take the view that they are perceived as not being "authentic" - something which might be of concern in a PR company
